Phone Surveys

Telephone surveys used to be the most popular form of interviewing before the web became dominant. Traditionally, centrally based phone centres were set up with interviewers seated at booths, each one operating CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) software. Many of these CATI systems included automated dialling and recall systems to ensure maximum operator efficiency.

Snap software has extensively been used for telephone surveys, though few organisations have operated it in the traditional CATI type environment as described above.

As web offerings have been enhanced, many organisations have been using web surveys as a vehicle for carrying out surveys over the telephone, with the interviewer accessing the web for the next respondent, with the completed replies all being held centrally, and quota controls in place to ensure that the right number of each group are interviewed.
